What to know about this route
The ordinary route requires at least one year of lawful Belize residence before applying, with no more than 14 total days outside Belize during that year, financial stability, and must meet the criminal-record requirements. Applying does not extend current status: keep the existing permission valid while the case is processed. A special published provision exists for people who entered before age 16 and have lived in Belize at least ten years; it requires individual review.
Documents to prepare
Typical evidence covers lawful stay, financial support, identity, police and medical records, references and family documentation. Legally married spouses may share an application; common-law partners apply separately. Dependent children need relationship and parental-consent records.
