Registration may follow five years holding permanent residence, with limits on absences, or at least one year of marriage to a Belizean who held citizenship at marriage. The published residence limits are no more than 30 consecutive days or three total months abroad in any twelve-month period, subject to listed employment/medical considerations. Descent generally covers people born abroad to a Belizean parent, with limited historical provisions. The official page states Guatemalan nationals do not qualify through registration; these cases need specialist assessment. Investment and QRP status do not automatically confer citizenship.
